I’ll admit to getting fairly cranky about it, but the knowledge that AAA had, in effect, the upper hand, helped me to keep my mouth shut…

And I must thank my mother for the AAA membership — I wouldn’t be able to afford it on my own, and I don’t like to think how things would have wound up without it.

I had AAA for many, many years, and luckily never ran into this kind of an issue. Since then, due to financial issues, we’ve had to drop our membership AND our cell phones. I’d hate to think what kind of pickle a scenario such as yours would put us in now!
Glad everything worked out for you. It sounds like you have more patience than I do. HOW many rounds of “can’t you just call a friend…” did you go through? I think I would have come unglued, and yelled, “What part of ‘I dont’ live around here and don’t know anybody’ did you fail to understand??!!”
Holey cow, some people can be dense.

Glad it all worked out. What stunning scenery. Hubby and I really need to get to AZ and Sedona some time soon. How frustrating that the people at AAA were so rigid and inflexible. Geez…
